Why did the chicken cross the road?

Pardon my absence - the last few days have been craaaaazy. The bank finally came through at the very last second, so as of Friday afternoon we had a new home! That meant the touch-and-go moving plans for the weekend were officially a go, and with the help of some awesome friends we were in our new place by dinnertime on Saturday (I use the term "we" rather loosely, considering that all a pregnant woman is good for is supervising - but I supervised the hell out of that move, oh yeah!).

We've spent the last two days unpacking, and it's still not quite finished (although we do have the interwebs back as of today - yaaay!) - when it's all done, I'll post a few photos of the new digs. Until then, here's a picture of a chicken that we took earlier today to tide you over:

And yes, it is crossing the road. There is little more surreal in life than turning to your husband in the car and saying, "Hey...is that...a chicken on the road?" I live in Hickville, folks.

10 shout-outs:

  1. Oh, congrats on the new house! I'm glad you had friends to help and a bank that came through for you. I can imagine you're very busy, don't forget to relax with your feet up!

  7. We live out in the boonies, too. I grew up in L.A., so living in the country was really an adventure in the beginning. We had a barn, so I got this great idea to get some chickens. They're not hard to keep, fortunately. However, for some reason, the chickens decided they liked the farm across the street better...so...every morning my chickens were crossing the road, and every evening they were crossing the road again. My sister just about wrecked her car when I was talking to her on her cell phone (she's a city girl in L.A.) and I told her, "I've got to go...the chickens are crossing the road and I've got to lure them to the other side."

    Enjoy country life!

  8. Oh Hickville...how I miss thee. I used to live in Hickville and saw random (enter animal here) crossing the road all the time. Though, I have to admit that getting stuck behind tractors had to be the BEST (and most acceptable) excuse on why I was late to school.

Just stopping by to say, Happy Tuesday SITStah!!
